I’ve always loved creating things in the kitchen. I’ve always loved to cook but I’d rather bake.
Growing up I loved baking. My mom was such a great teacher. In high school I asked her to teach me how to make cinnamon rolls, and she was so patient while I did it all. When the dough was finished and ready to be rolled out she took a pinch of the dough and put it in her mouth (a very important step). She grabbed all the dough, walked over to the trash and dropped it in, then she looked at me and said, “let’s try that again!” Clearly I wasn’t paying close enough attention to how much salt I’d added. Side note: I make the most amazing cinnamon rolls now!
As much as I love to bake in general, there is just something I love about making cakes. Not just regular cakes, really yummy cakes that are so pretty to look at as well. I have discovered some of the most amazing recipes over the past years.
Several years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman). She signed my cookbook “To the Worlds Best Copycat.” That’s me! I search for and test (and tweak if I see fit) all the great recipes out there.
I am married (20+ years) to my high school sweetheart and favorite person ever! He is my biggest cheerleader and I love that about him. We have 5 amazing kids (4 daughters and 1 son). Our oldest is in college at Brigham Young University and the others are all overachievers in their own individual way.
